Welcome to Grove Bookshop's blog page. In the run-up to this year's Ilkley Literature Festival we have had some exciting events, with more to come. We have already joined Simon Armitage on his Pennine Way walk, and last Saturday local historian Mike Dixon was in the shop signing copies of all his books, most notably Ilkley Revisited, his latest collection of old photographs of this historic town. There are plenty of signed copies available, as well as signed editions of books by Gervase Phinn and Alan Bennett.
Stop Press! Internationally acclaimed author, Kate Atkinson, recently paid us a visit to sign copies of many of her books, including the brand new Jackson Brodie hardback, Started Early, Took my Dog. We have plenty of copies of this and the earlier novels in the series, as well as signed copies of her first great novel, Behind the Scenes at the Museum.
Next month we are helping to launch an exciting new publication in which one popular Yorkshire figure investigates another. Renowned historian Bill Mitchell will be here on Saturday 11th September from 6.30 to 7.30 to discuss "Herriot - A Vet's Life." Tickets are on sale here at The Grove priced £2.50, (includes a glass of wine and nibbles). For more details, go to www.visitilkley.com.
