In this era of downloads and internet shopping, more and more people are deprived of the joy of browsing through racks of cds, looking for bargains, surprises, or just that special recording.

Grove Music, downstairs at The Grove Bookshop, offers a wide range of classical new releases, jazz on cd and vinyl, and a back catalogue of classic recordings in folk, jazz, classical and rock music. Rediscover the joy of browsing in our cosy basement shop.

Easter is Here

Fri 29th Mar 13

The Grove Bookshop is open throughout the  Easter weekend and as well as some great seasonal books for children, we have all the latest fiction and non-fiction titles.

The ever-popular Jeffrey Archer is storming the bestseller charts with Best Kept Secret, the third instalment of his Clifton Chronicles, and anyone left in suspense after reading The Sins of the Fathers will be keen to devour this latest episode.

2013 sees the fiftieth anniversary of the infamous Beeching Report on the Reshaping of British Railways, and we have a facsimile of the report itself on sale at £9.99, while those of a more nostalgic turn of mind may prefer to peruse Julian Holland's book, Dr Beeching's Axe 50 Years On - Illustrated Memories of Britain's Lost Railways, a highly illustrated memorial to what was lost as a result of the report.

Anyone who was gripped by Fay Weldon's Habits of the House will want to pick up a copy of the sequel, Long Live the King, which follows the fortunes of the Dilberne family as Edward VII comes to the throne. Fans of Tracy Chevalier, meanwhile, will be keen to pick up a copy of The Last Runaway, set in the cornfields of 1850s Ohio with an English heroine. It's a beautifully designed book and, at £14.99, is excellent value.

Finally, we'd like to extend a warm welcome to Rebecca Rault, who has joined us for two weeks' work experience all the way from the Netherlands. Rebecca works in a bookshop near Arnhem and is learning all about the differences between bookselling there and in England. I'm sure all our customers will make her welcome as she takes on the role of international bookseller.
