In this era of downloads and internet shopping, more and more people are deprived of the joy of browsing through racks of cds, looking for bargains, surprises, or just that special recording.

Grove Music, downstairs at The Grove Bookshop, offers a wide range of classical new releases, jazz on cd and vinyl, and a back catalogue of classic recordings in folk, jazz, classical and rock music. Rediscover the joy of browsing in our cosy basement shop.

Sweethearts at The Grove

Fri 10th May 13

The shop was bursting at the seams on Thursday night as chocolate enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the success of The Sweethearts, the story of the women who worked at Rowntree's of York in the 1930s. Authors Neil Hanson and Lynn Russell read from the book and answered questions from the floor, but the guest of honour was 95 year-old Madge, who started work at the factory in 1932 at the age of 14.

The book is riding high in the bestseller lists and we were delighted to hold this event. You can view photos from the evening by visiting our Facebook page. Let's hope that we can have a similar attendance at our next evening event in July, when we welcome Ann Dinsdale from the Bronte Parsonage museum.
